January 20, 2017 — Come February, Quebeckers head to the nearest sugar shack for good eats and a rollicking good time! A much-loved spring activity, “sugaring off” entails hearty, all-you-can-eat fare the likes of sausages, omelettes, pancakes, baked beans and more, all liberally doused with maple syrup.

For an authentic experience
In March, the Maison Saint-Gabriel sets up an authentic on-site sugar shack, complete with maple taffy tasting, storytelling and traditional music.

Just west of Montréal is the Sucrerie de la Montagne, open year-round with delicious maple products, horse-drawn sleigh or wagon rides, tours of the sugar shack and fieldstone bakery and live music.

Canadian Maple Delights is a warm and inviting bistro-boutique in Old Montréal that excels in all things maple. What’s more, a free onsite museum details every aspect of this sugary elixir.
