The complete Beethoven symphony cycle led by Kent Nagano continues with Nos. 2, 5 and 8. The Fifth Symphony, we recall, with its universally recognized opening motif, is one of the best-known and most beloved works in the entire repertory. The concert is preceded by a talk with CBC Radio Two’s Kelly Rice and musicologist Guy Marchand.
