In 1909, while living amidst the Parisian world of pomp and display, the young Stravinsky found himself caught up in the magical world of ballet. In his score for The Firebird, he incorporated all the brilliance and color of the fantastic fairy tale on which it is based. Kent Nagano conducts the complete ballet score as well as Debussy’s Rhapsody for alto saxophone and orchestra featuring the incomparable jazz artist Branford Marsalis.
