In his Symphony “From the New World,” which captivated audiences beginning with its first performance, Dvorák narrates in music his stay on American soil. In a complementary register and every bit as atmospheric, Janácek’s Sinfonietta is a hymn to life and to nature. Gifted with a technical facility that enables him to transcend difficulties in the score, Brazilian pianist Nelson Freire here performs Mozart’s Concerto in D minor, regarded by many as the most accomplished of Mozart’s works for soloist and orchestra.
