By day or by night, a variety of circuits are available to visitors wishing to explore Old Montreal aboard one of these romantic horse-driven carriages. The calèches leave from place Jacques Cartier, de la Commune street, place d’Armes and sometimes even from the top of Mount Royal. A tour in the streets of the historic quarter lasts from 30 to 60 minutes and is available in English or French. Rates: 30 minutes, $45; 1 hour, $75. It is possible to leave the streets of Old Montreal under certain conditions.
