A classical painter inspired by literature and Greek mythology, John William Waterhouse aimed to recapture the beauty and simplicity of the medieval world. This retrospective will consider how the artist's paintings reflect his engagement with contemporary issues, ranging from medievalismand classical heritage to spiritualism and the New Woman.
