An afternoon of celebrations! The SMCQ marks the 30-year career of Louise Bessette, contemporary music doyenne, by giving her free rein over a one-of-a-kind triple concert. The pianist opens the event with ARTefact to perform several premieres, as well as Sokolović’s City Songs, before tackling some red hot pieces in the second half (Scelsi and Boudreau). She closes the afternoon with pianist Peter Hill, renown for his performances of Messiaen.
