Of Czech origin, Montreal ceramist Eva Lapka is a graduate in sculpture and ceramic design from the School of Fine Crafts of Brno, in the former Czechoslovakia. Silhouettes and sketches of figures and of faces, her works are not naturalistic representations of the human form, but are rather quasi-abstract sculptures that emphasize matter, movement, and the contrast of shadow and light.
