Passing tones is an interactive installation inviting passersby, alone or in groups, to become part of a unique and original musical experience. Entering the south corridor of Galerie Place Ville Marie, visitors step right onto an oversized keyboard. On either side, 13 windows embody the notes of a scale, the white keys on one side, the black on the other. By touching each one, a musical note is produced, based on its position on the scale. The size of the installation is such that groups of passersby can take it over to play a known melody, or create an original composition.
