In RÔLEPLAY, by Raphaëlle Perreault, a quartet of dancers moves on a rotating stage in a decisive and repetitive manner. Viewed from a fresh angle each time, each movement phrase is reminiscent of the previous one. As the piece progresses, the body-as-material shifts towards that of a sentient being.
In BIG CITY MOTOR, choreographer Brian Brooks explores bodies in perpetual motion, splicing together disparate aspects of formalist postmodern dance, extreme sports, parkour, and street dance.
