From the Cas Public dance company, Variation S is an energetic, intense, and sometimes turbulent contemporary dance show that revisits the world of Russian ballet in a striking manner. Choreographer and company founder, Hélène Blackburn, had long sought to address this fertile period in the history of dance during which artists broke from traditional choreographic and musical standards. With expert performances and music from composer Martin Tétreault, who creates a dialogue between the world of DJs and the music of Stravinsky, Variation S exposes the characteristic style on which Blackburn has built a reputation.
