There are two long-standing wars that Montreal bagels will be eternally fighting. First, a war between Montreal bagels and New York bagels. (New York bagels being perfectly rounded chubby moist messes, therefor far inferior to Montreal’s thin crunchy and sweeter variety.) Second, a civil bagel war between two Montreal bagel institutions: Fairmount and St-Viateur. Some locals swear by one, other locals swear by the other, and many would happily chow down at either. You’ll have to do a taste test to decide for yourself, on this blog we must remain impartial.
