Black & Blue 2013 explodes in Montreal this Thanksgiving long weekend, October 9-15, 2013. For this edition, Black & Blue is taking out a new lease on life with a brand new location and a refreshed vibe…
For the first time ever, Black & Blue will be hosted at Arsenal, a former shipyard turned multifunctional contemporary art space located south of downtown in trendy Griffintown. This massive industrial hanger will provide a great space for the two music rooms, art spaces, live performances and thousands of ravers.
This year Black & Blue is being cross promoted with The Saints at Large, a New York based collective responsible for putting on the famous fetish Black Party. This collaboration will be sure to bring some interesting design esthetics to the event!
Like previous years, Black & Blue is a whole weekend of parties. Jock Ball takes place on the Thursday at Club Unity, Leather Ball on Friday at Club Soda, with the official pre-party on Saturday at Peopl Nightclub. There are a number of partner events as well, like the presentation of “The Saint-Leonard Chronicles” at Centaur Theater, The Beatles exhibit at the Pointe-a-Calliere museum, a gay volleyball and hockey tournament, plus Interpride 2013. MAIN EVENT: The main event starts at 10 pm on Sunday night and goes until Monday at noon. The Trance room line up is DeepTrance, Mike McCarthy, Ronski Speed and more, while the House Room line up is Antoine Clamaran, David Penn, Satoshi Tomiie, among others. Along with the international line up of DJs, there will be a dance show by Priape and Saints at Large, a performance by Cirque Éloize, acrobatics by Dominic Lacasse and l’Homme Drapeau, plus the Groupe Tranzition Project.
During the whole Black & Blue Festival, Arsenal will be featuring a large exhibition called “LIVE ART MULTIMEDIA INTERACTION” that will have forty visual artists collaborate to turn the whole venue into a giant interactive expression of the 2013 theme: Reinvent the Wheel.
