I’ve eaten a lot of High Lights meals in this town, but I can safely say that none have been quite as close to perfect as Melissa Craig’s two-night stand at famed Montreal chef Laurent Godbout’s Old Montreal restaurant, Chez L’Epicier…
Craig, who is only 31, is already one of Canada’s most award-winning chefs: the sea-to-sky seafood and produce she serves at Whistler’s Bearfoot Bistro played well in Montreal, with dishes that married West Coast bounty with Quebec-culled delicacies such as sweetbreads and Foie Gras. Check out our kitchen visit with Craig and Godbout during the High Lights festival and make sure to stop in, any time of year, to experience the Québec gastronomy that Godbout has been serving up for over 10 years at Chez L’Épicier.
(TIP: Chez L’Épicier also has a great wine list and a range of gourmet products sold over the counter.)
