When you are in Montréal and some hottie leans in to say – Salut mon beau homme, do you see fireworks too? – there is a good chance that there might actually be pyrotechnic detonations in the sky.
Every Saturday from June 13 to August 22 2009 at 10:00 p.m. Montréal will play host to an international fireworks competition.
Find out where to catch the explosive gay fireworks action…
Known throughout the pyrotechnical world as the Olympics of fireworks, these eye bonbons just happen to explode right above the Gay Village.
Each night is dedicated to the sights and sounds of a specific country. Here’s the roster:
June 29 – ENGLAND/UNITED KINGDOM
July 4 – AUSTRALIA
July 11- HONG KONG/CHINA
July 18 – ARGENTINA
July 25 – QUÉBEC/CANADA
August 1 – UNITED STATES (Same weekend as Divers/cité!)
August 8 – SOUTH AFRICA
August 15 – NON-COMPETING: TRIBUTE TO CIRQUE DU SOLEIL (Same weekend as Pride!)
August 22 – JUPITER AWARDS CEREMONY
For a prime location to catch the colorful booms, I recommend the rooftop patios at Sky Bar, Le Drugstore or Club Unity (all in Montréal’s Gay Village).
Here’s an epic video of the action:
Explosions start at 10 pm.
