The Gay Village is an obvious spot for all the homos, lezzies and queers to congregate. But “Gay Montréal” does not respect geographical borders. There are regular debaucherous parties that you need to know about!

Here are four monthly parties beyond the Village that transcend the straight & narrow…

HANK – The newest of the out-of-village events, HANK is promoted as “no meat market” – just a bunch of guys and gals mingling, enjoying a bevy, and having fun. Held at “Le Mystique,” an old tavern in downtown. Relaxed atmosphere. Mixed crowd (age & gender). Second Thursday of each month. Rotating guest playlisters. $3.

FAGGITY ASS FRIDAYS – A once-a-month awesome, alty, faggitylicious dance party that also raises money for sex education in schools. A mixed, college-age crowd with anarchist tendencies. Music is as diverse as the gender-bending event itself. Suggested donation – $10.

MEOW MIX – For bent girls & their buddies who are interested in alternative queer culture, the Meow Mix features a cabaret-style show highlighting local and international talent, followed by a sweaty dance party. Primarily female. $10.

MEC PLUS ULTRA – A gay happy hour, where the idea is to make it easier for guys to meet new people, and to drink a beer. Always lots of hotties. Try your hand at fooseball. Electropop will most likely be spinning. Primarily male. $6.
