  • DENIS GAGNON ON THE MONTRéAL FASHION DIARIES

    Posted by

DENIS GAGNON is the Montréal designer who attracts the biggest crowds during Fashion Week. I must have spilled at least two Dirty Martinis last season just trying to wade through the crowd gathered for his 2009-2010 Fall-Winter collection.

He’s the sweetheart of Canadian fashion, a leather genius and, as I found out when he welcomed me to his home’s secret garden, a very humble, down-to-earth and charming man.

In this second edition of the Montreal Fashion Diaries (the first being an interview with his then-stylist RAD HOURANI), I talk to Denis about his collaborations with Harakiri jewellery and the fantastic bags he designs for Fullum and Holt.

Oh, and I totally got the scoop on the collection he’s working on for next season… Check out his adorable reaction, it’s to die for!

PS. Denis is known for rocking the oversized black-framed glasses…I found out they are a gift signed Lanvin, offered by no other than the amazing RENATA MORALES

Taking the most beautiful place in Montreal, the Old Port, and using it as a backdrop to Montreal's other beautiful feature: the people! The window looks directly up Avenue McGill College, to McGill campus and the mountain. I lived in Montreal during my time at the university, but this weekend was the first time my three cousins had been to the beautiful city. We spent the entire weekend walking up and down St. Denis, eating La Banquise's poutine in Parc La Fontaine, and napping in Parc Jeanne-Mance. But that first view of the city after our arrival at the hotel was definitely a moment that left my newbie cousins in awe of Montreal. The Montréal Buzz posted a photo:	Peter Hook at Club Soda
