Lunch to go from Europea Espace Boutique

Posted on July 28th, 2009 by .

On a sunny day in Old Montreal, it can feel like a crime eating lunch indoors. But in a gastronomic paradise like Montreal, it’s even more of a crime to pick up crappy fast food to eat by the waterfront. Luckily, Europea Espace Boutique has the solution for you, ready to go in a cute little lunch box.

Located on Notre-Dame Street West, one of the main streets running through Old Montreal, Europea Espace Boutique is an offshoot of Europea, a swanky fine dining establishment. The boutique sells take-out lunches that make for a fantastic – and refined – picnic on a budget. For less than $10, you get a gourmet sandwich or salad, a pastry of your choice and a drink. That’s a real full-meal deal.

While you’re there, try the cannelés cakes. This typical Bordeaux pastry is not easy to find in Montreal, so this is a must. Europea Espace Boutique makes them with the owner’s aunt’s recipe, and they are perfect: crispy on the outside and moist and spongy on the inside.
