Montrealers love to celebrate anything and everything, especially food and drink. Here are the top 19 food events that you need to look out for!

First_FridaysFirst Fridays (Annually from May to October)

Join the fleet of Montréal food trucks every first Friday of the summer and autumn months at the Esplanade Sun Life at the Olympic Park, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. for some awesome open air eats.

OysterfestMontréal Oysterfest (Annually in August)

A weekend-long festival that brings together some of the city’s finest restaurants and bars to celebrate our all-time favourite bivalve mollusc, the oyster.

OmnivoreOmnivore Food Festival (Annually in August)

In collaboration with the SAT (Society for Arts and Technology), the Omnivore World Tour returns every year in the month of August to discuss and demonstrate trends and innovative techniques by world-renowned chefs.

YUL_EAT_zone_enfantsYUL EAT (September 3-4-5, 2016)

YUL EAT is not only a “food festival” but also a celebration of all aspects of gastronomy featuring wine tastings, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, food vendors, family activities and a fleet of food trucks.

Le_burger_weekLe Burger Week (Annually in September)

Initiated by the same people who bring you La Poutine Week, Le Burger Week features over 30 restaurants around Montréal that offer their tasty interpretation of the humble hamburger.

MTL à TABLE (November 3 to 13, 2016)

Montréal’s own restaurant week: over 140 restaurants in the city serving specialty table d’hôte menus at a reduced price.

Brought to you by the SAQ, Happy November is a month-long celebration of wine and gastronomy highlighting local Québec-made products.

Le Chop (Annually January to February)

Le Chop – presented by the Ville Marie Collection sees five of the biggest downtown restaurants offering up a delicious 3-course table d’hôte menus for a “chopped” – reduced price. The signature dishes created by their top chefs are only available for the duration of the event.

For a whole month, Happening Gourmand takes you on a gastronomic journey through the nine restaurants of Experience Old Montreal located in Old Montreal; from Japanese, Italian, Quebec terroir and steakhouse. Special table d’hôte menus at three tempting prices, will satisfy all palates.

A weekend-long event dedicated to all things chocolate. Join chocolate vendors and experience seminars by the Academy of Chocolate and a chocolate fashion show, all for free at Bonsecours Market.

Poutine_WeekLa Poutine Week  (Annually in February)

Some 40 restaurants around the city create signature poutines – our official-unofficial dish – in a bid to win the title of the city’s best poutine.

Taking place at the Grande-Place of Complexe Desjardins, this event introduces over 300 varieties of sparkling, still, and ice cider made locally in Québec.

MTLENLUMIERE-2-625X400MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE (February 19 to 27, 2016)

The 17th edition runs until February 27. One of the largest festivals in the world celebrating winter, Montréal en Lumiere pairs world renowned chefs with some of the city’s finest tables to create menus and wine pairings offering unforgettable experiences.

Chef à l’érable is an upscale spin on a timely Québecois springtime tradition, the “cabane à sucre” or “sugar shack. This “urban sugar shack” takes place in the Old Port of Montreal at La Scena where Chef Laurent Godbout offers up his interpretation of sugar shack classics.

AperitivoAperitivo (Annually in March)

Montréal’s Little Italy invites you to experience the Italian tradition of “Aperitivo” (a European version of happy hour). From February 4 to March 25 different restaurants and bars will host an Aperitivo where, for $15, you can enjoy a drink and all you can eat finger foods!

Enjoy cocktails at a reduced price at participating restaurants.

Lobster_Clam_JamLobster Clam Jam (Annually in May)

Rain or shine, the Lobster Clam Jam sees 20 local restaurants offering delicious bites on site along the scenic Lachine Canal, raising money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation Québec.

Le_Mondial_de_la_biereLe Mondial de la bière (Montreal Beer Fest) (June 8 to 12, 2016)

For the last 22 years, The Festival Mondial de le bière has been offering workshops and demonstrations, as well as samples of local micro brews and international favourites. The 23rd edition runs from June 8 to 12.

A Taste of the Caribbean Festival is an exciting weekend of food, music and arts from over 20 Caribbean countries, including Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Grenada and many more.
