Montreal Facebook and Instagram fans share their favourite 5-a-7

If there’s anything that Montreal does better than brunch (and we brunch like bosses) it would be the ubiquitous 5 à 7, also known as “happy hour.” We call it 5-à-7 because it happens between after work and before dinner, but trust me it’s just as happy.

We asked Facebook where the best 5 à 7’s in the city are, and suggested people tag their cocktail shots with a #MTL5a7 on Instagram. The results of this very official poll are as follows:

Eatdrinkbcarrie does some fancy thumbwork with a two-in-one-stagram at Dominion Square Tavern (1243 Metcalfe). On the left, a smorgasbord of charcuterie. On the right, delicious yellow cocktail. Cheers!

Chrislucas514 shares this concoction from Chez Delmo (275 Notre-Dame O) which hosts a Thursday 5 à 7 that is rather popular with the working-class homosexual. Words still out on what that white stuff is…

Uneparisienneamontreal does a classic down-the-bar-stagram at the very beautiful and trendy bar Sparrow (5322 Saint-Laurent). They have cucumber gin shots in miniature beer mugs!

Alexdunphy (that’s me!) took this pic at L’Atelier d’Argentine (355 Marguerite d’Youville). It was a raspberry-beet thing that tasted like raspberry… And beets.

Skye_43 thinks that Quai No. 4 (2800 Masson) is the best place to spend your post-work pre-food drinking hours. I’ve actually never been, but if the drinks are as nice as the stemware, I am down.

Veronique_m declares it “Bossa Nova time” at La Distillerie No. 1 (300 Ontario East). That drink looks awfully tiny compared to their giant $17 mason jars.

Other people chimed in and said that places like Buvette Chez Simone (4869 du Parc), Baldwin Barmacie (115 Laurier West),  Furco (425 Rue Mayor), Philemon (111 Saint Paul West), and Saint Bock (1749 Saint-Denis) are the best places to quench your early evening thirst. So check them out and who knows, you might just hang out all night…
