Montréal Mornings with Healthy muffins

Being a food journalist also means being a gym member. The last time I hosted a food show, I gained 8 pounds in two months! So, every morning after one of my fine dining adventures (life is hard, isn’t it?), I go straight to the gym and then to Capucine et Tournesol Bakery for a sugar-free Reine Elizabeth muffin (which is the French name for German chocolate).

Once I’ve got my morning snack, I have a seat on the bench outside and people watch while I munch. It’s my favourite morning routine.

While the chocolate muffins are my favourite, all the options at Capucine and Tournesol are exquisite. They’ve got flavours like cocoa-banana-rye, ginger-pineapple-kamut, and blueberry spelt. They are light, never greasy and sweetened with dates. Other tasty treats are their dense grain breads (a world apart from the usual baguette) and the beef-spinach rolls.

Another thing I like about Capucine et Tournesol is the granola décor. It kind of makes you feel healthier just standing in there.
