Tatiana Poblah was smart when she chose “I love Tati B.” as her business slogan. The only thing is that “In Love” doesn’t even start to describe how head-over-heels I am for the work of this Montreal fashion illustrator, with a boutique on Pratt Avenue in swanky Outremont.
You see, baby showers have always been in the same category as getting a root canal for me. Painful, that is. But as Johnny Nash puts it, I can see clearly now! The days of sucky bridesmaid parties and crappy wedding gifts are over. Thanks to astonishing porcelain sets, invitation cards, silk cushions, mirrors, prints, pins, bags, napkins and other illustrated goodies, Tati B. is without any doubt, my 2009 Montreal “Coup de Coeur” (that’s French for “latest crush).
Inspired by pop culture and city life, Tati B. is a bit like your inner girl’s dreams turned into a wonderful adult reality. From porcelain sets manufactured right here in Quebec to colourful china inks, what Tati B. offers is an entire range of exclusive home accessories and party essentials adorned with stunning modern-day vixens.
I am particularly gushing over her famous passeport covers (seen above) which are bound to make my airport ordeals history. Just looking at them makes me feel fabulous! They also happen to come with the cutest travel bag etiquette to identify your travel gear. Ideal gift for all your globetrotting and travelling girlfriends!
Fond is what I am of Tatiana’s DUTCH SILK CUSHIONS
, showing off fashionable pin-ups posing on pastel desserts. If my bed could talk, it would surely thank me. Incidentally, a shopping session at Tati B. is also a stroll in tabletop heaven. That is, hot placemats to add personality to any kitchen table and napkins that won’t leave any girl indifferent.
The ultimate Tati B. gift? The twelve colours, limited edition, 5 piece PORCELAIN SET
, which serves as the living space of Emmanuelle, a dark hair, pink dress fashionista sitting on nothing less than a mountain of ice cream. This collector’s item comes with a certificate of authenticity, but if you want plates you won’t actually feel bad eating in, Tati B. also offers an entire line of more affordable tableware.
Fun note: Tatiana creates a lot of her unique pieces made-to-order, such as t-shirts, cocktail dresses and even shoes!
Yet, no matter how much I tell you about how great of a boutique Tati B. is, the best way to find out is to go see by yourself! The gallery boutique used to be on Mile End’s St-Viateur Street, but is moving to the Outremont neighbourhood as of next week.
As Tatiana herself puts it: “Tati B. is for anyone who loves being surrounded by pretty things.” I could not have said it better!
