Your 2017 guide to Montréal’s food trucks and street food

Posted on April 24th, 2017 by .

Montréal’s food truck season is officially open! With the blossoming of flowers and the singing of birds, both spring and street food have now woken up from their winter slumber.

The great food truck project of Montréal is now in its 4th year and going strong.  What started as a pilot project and a handful of food trucks parked in nine different locations in the city centre in 2013 has blossomed into one of the city’s most anticipated summer activities.

If you’re out and about taking in the sights and sounds of Montréal in the summer, here’s everything you need to know about street eats and food trucks.

Starting April 1 and running until October 31, a variety of food trucks (including 3 news ones!) will rotate among 20 predetermined locations in Sud-Ouest, Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, Verdun, Ville-Marie and Outremont.

Here is a line-up of the awesome trucks and mobile vendors you can expect this summer rotating around the city-designated spots:

The flashy artwork-wrapped trucks match the eclectic and diverse menus offered by each of the vendors. Choices range from food truck mainstays like grilled cheeses, pulled pork and bacon everything to mobile haute cuisine like lobster truffle cappuccino by the Chef Jérôme Ferrer (Europea Mobile).

The trucks mentioned above are the ones with city permits that are allowed to rotate around the 20 designated city spots but they are not the only ones you will encounter this summer. Indded, these other beloved trucks, trailers and carts will be making the rounds of Montréal’s festivals such as First Fridays, etc.

Summers in Montréal are synonymous with festivals, and what’s a festival without food? Luckily, some of these food trucks listed above will be making an appearance during the city’s most happening street festivals to help you celebrate in true foodie style.
