PAUL MULDOON TALKS POETRY, TRAVEL AND MONTREAL

Posted on April 26th, 2010 by .

In a world of Paris-Hilton-twitter-literacy, Paul Muldoon is a true poetic gem.

I sat down with this Pulitzer Prize winning poet to chat about how he writes a poem, the link between poetry & travel and his favorite hotel in Montréal.

Mr. Muldoon was in town for the annual Blue Metropolis festival over the weekend. We met in Old Montréal at Versus Restaurant in Hotel Nelligan, his preferred choice of accommodation when he’s in the city.  Joined by his wife and son, we had a lovely conversation over a delicious brunch.

These are some of the highlights.

Paul Muldoon’s Montréal Choices:

To Stay: Hotel Nelligan (Named after one of Montréal’s most famous poets, Émile Nelligan)

To Do: The Just For Laughs Festival (The world’s premiere comedy festival)

To Eat: L’express (Charming French bistro on stylish St. Denis Street)
