FLICKR PHOTO OF THE WEEK
Our fiery photo this week captures a scene from local circus company, Tohu. “Inside and out, La TOHU (short for “tohu-bohu”, a French expression to describe urban hustle and bustle) is host to a year-round line-up of fun and excitement that spans a wide array of circus art forms, cultural celebrations and eco-responsible fairs. Home to state-of-the-art, purpose-built circus facilities as well as those of the National Circus School, the centre is a hub of cultural and economic life for the city and the Saint-Michel neighbourhood, with a mission to promote environmental design and stewardship. So come and run away to the circus in Montreal!” Thanks to Pierre Versailles for his photo! He’s our first contributor to have two photos featured! —————————————————————————————————————— Submit your Montréal pictures to our MONTRÉAL BUZZ FLICKR GROUP. THE MAGIC OF LANTERNS RETURNS!
This video is a tease from the 2009 Magic of Lanterns at the Montreal Botanical Gardens. I am reposting it today as it never gets old and is consistently one of my favorite ways to celebrate fall in the city. Imagine walking through the most stunning Chinese garden at night, surrounded by more than 700 colorful lanterns, with the sounds of traditional Chinese instruments in the fresh autumn breeze. Just the top of Montreal’s Olympic Stadium rising through the trees is there to remind you that you are right in the heart of the city!
FLICKR PHOTO OF THE WEEK
Our photo this week is from Flickr ace Mr. Luc Deveault. He’s got a fine selection of Montreal photos, including some great shots around the islands of Parc Jean-Drapeau. The selected image features the Expo ’67 French Pavilion, which is currently home to the Montreal Casino. “Formerly the French and Québec pavilions of Expo 67, the Casino de Montréal offers 120 gaming tables, including Poker Texas Hold’em, and over 3,000 slots machines on five floors of sheer entertainment! It is also home to sumptuous private room L’exécutif, the Casino also offers four restaurants, including Nuances, rated Five Diamonds by CAA/AAA.” Thanks Luc! —————————————————————————————————————— Submit your Montréal pictures to our MONTRÉAL BUZZ FLICKR GROUP. MONTREAL ATTRACTIONS: JET BOATING
Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of guiding New York blogger Joe.My.God. around Montreal. We ate at fancy restaurants, wandered through farmer’s markets and leisurely rolled along on Bixis. It was all lovely, but I wanted to make sure we upped the ‘adventure’ factor before he went home. So we went jet boating.
