Thursday nights under the stars at New City Gas

If Wednesday is hump day, Thursday is now bump day thanks to New City Gas. Griffintown’s hottest event venue is opening its amazing terrasses every summertime Thursday, 4-11 pm. There’s no better view of Old Montreal from up there – you’ll feel like you’re king of the city…

MONTREAL’S OUTDOOR WINTER DJ FESTIVAL: IGLOOFEST

Despite seriously cold weather (even for Montreal), almost 18,000 people checked out the opening weekend of Igloofest. We think the video above does a pretty good of explaining why. With three more weekends ahead of us, and music from Ellen Allien, TNGHT, A Tribe Called Red, Caspa, Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard, Joy Orbison, Chris Liebing and many more on the way, there’s no reason for you not to suit up and come get down in the Old Port.

WHAT TO DO IN MONTREAL’S GAY VILLAGE IN 2013

Tucked into a cozy café during the early winter months of 2013, or prancing around in a tank top come August, Montreal’s Gay Village is a fun and friendly place to hang out all year. The Village is packed with places to eat, drink and dance that appeal to a wide variety of people!

WARM UP AND GET DOWN OUTSIDE AT IGLOOFEST 2013

A-TRAK DJS MONTREAL’S IGLOOFEST

A full day of snowfall did not deter thousands of Montrealers and tourists alike from showing up for the kickoff of Igloofest, which continues until January 28. People showed up in their best winter wear, explored the fest’s many fun and frosty features, and, of course, danced the night away to Montreal expat A-Trak. There’s plenty more to come, so make sure that this is the year you figure out what all the fuss is about.

SOLID COLD: IGLOOFEST SHAKES OFF WINTER

Sometimes I can’t believe that Montreal’s massive outdoor electronic music fest and dance party Igloofest took until 2007 to get off the frozen ground – I mean, it’s just so very Montreal. Since the dawn of time, Montrealers have always been good at finding ways to party, sanctioned or not, during the darkest and deepest of winters…

GAY NEW YEAR’S EVE

As 2011 races into a dramatic finish, it’s time to reflect on the year gone and look forward on what’s to come. 2011 was an amazing 12 months in Montreal. From Igloofest and Nuit Blanche, from Bixi bikes and summer festivals to Queer of the Year, Montreal has never been busier! While it’s easy to already be thinking ahead to another year of cabane a sucre, terraces, restaurants and parties… let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. 2011 is not technically over and we plan on going out on December 31 with one last hurrah!

NEW YEAR’S EVE IN MONTREAL

From the simply intimate to the ludicrously grandiose, from the under-your-nose to the off-the-beaten-path, Montreal once again plays host to a huge array of partays this New Year’s Eve, any one of which just may be just the ticket to ringing in a new year that some sayers of sooth are predicting will be our last. Might as well do it up right this NYE…

THINGS TO DO IN MONTREAL: OCTOBER 21-28

No doubt about it, it’s fall now – the north winds blow, the leaves fall, the days grow shorter. Which also means Montreal nights are longer, and what better excuse to eat, drink and be merry well into the wee hours. Lovers of live music will adore this week in Montreal, as will lovers of film, as one film festival comes to an end and another begins. Montreal stages brace for drama, comedy, politics and the stomping of hundreds of horses hooves (seriously!). Art, poetry and spoken word round out the busy week with heady, ready made-in-Montreal creative stuff..
