Each year our friends over at tripoutgaytravel.com hold a little awards contest that celebrates the best in the glamorous/scandalous world of gay travel. Montreal has been nominate for “Best Global Destination” – which makes sense for a variety of reasons: stellar gay village, delicious food, accessibility to Americans, cute accents and salacious nightlife. We’re kinda also awesome for hosting the world’s first international “Queer of the Year” contest. I thought I’d make a little video that highlights the ‘gayness’ of Montreal. We promise to keep on rockin’ it if you show us some voting love. You can vote with your Facebook or Twitter accounts, or you can keep it anonymous. But whatever you do, just get out there and vote now… for Montreal!
HARVEST: THE LGBT THEATRE FESTIVAL
The Montreal Harvest theatre festival began 6 years ago to ensure that lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans folks had spaces to perform. The festival is a mélange of theatre, music and dance, perfect for anyone with an appreciation for LGBT cultures.
BLACK & BLUE: THE BIG MONTREAL PARTY TURNS TWENTY!
The annual Montreal Black & Blue Festival is one of the world’s great parties. What started back in 1991 as a simple fundraiser for HIV/AIDS related charities has become a full-fledged 7-day social, cultural, sports and party event that attracts thousands of people from around the globe to Montreal.

NüVü: THE CHIC NEW VILLAGE DINING EXPERIENCE
Every once in a while something absolutely fabulous is introduced into our lives, and we are left wondering how we possibly survived without it. For instance, can anyone really remember how we maintained our fierceness before Lady Gaga? Montreal’s newest chic bistro, NüVü, has arrived. And she’s wearing designer duds.
QUEER OF THE YEAR: BEHIND THE SCENES COMMENTARY
The “Queer of the Year” has been an international search for the brightest star under the rainbow. Last week, five contestants were flown into Montreal to spend a week competing in various challenges, only one gaining the official title of “Queer of the Year”! I had the pleasure of hosting this incredible experience. I spent one crazy-ass week with five fantabulous fags from different cities around North America. There were ups and downs, and only one walked away with the title. So what happens when five gay guys get shoved in a loft for a week? You need to watch and find out!

QUEER OF THE YEAR: FINAL FIVE ANNOUNCED!
Over the past few weeks we’ve had the pleasure of hearing folks testify why they might be the “Queer of the Year.” We’ve had people come out of the closet, march alone in their small town pride parade and flex their muscles in hopes of making a lasting impression with you! It was definitely some tight competition with video entries coming from across North America. After much humming and hawing, the panel (comprised of representatives at Tourisme Montreal, Montreal Pride and other community members) has made their decision! Here are the five finalists!
MONTREAL PHOTO ESSAY: DIVERS/CITÉ
The past weekend was epic in Montreal. A big part of the epic-ness was the annual Divers/Cité festival — a week long celebration of LGBT culture, music, art and more. There was a whole slew of artists, including Lady Bunny & Joey Arias, Sister Sledge, Frankie Knuckles, DJ Ana Paula and plenty of sassy others! If you didn’t make it this year, then you best pull out your big gay calendar for 2011 and circle the last week in July. You’ve got a date with Montreal. I was boppin’ about the festival enjoying the mixed drinks and drag queens. And in between martinis, I managed to snag a couple of photos. Enjoy!
