The Montreal Impact, the city’s ever-popular soccer team, have just started their 2011 season. With a new stadium, an imminent move up to the big leagues and, seriously, some of the best ticket prices in town, family plus football clearly adds up… The Montreal Impact (Impact de Montréal) soccer club has been around since 1993, having played in several leagues before settling into their current membership in the North American Soccer League. They have, it’s pretty fair to say, dominated, winning the Voyageurs Cup from 2002 to 2008. They’ve also been fan favourites the whole way through (a 2009 game against Mexico’s Santos Laguna in the Olympic Stadium drew over 55,000 fans), their logo featuring a stylized fleur-de-lis. In 2008, the Impact moved to Saputo Stadium, which can hold over 13,000 supporters, making it Canada’s second largest soccer stadium. But that’s not the end of the expansion: in 2012 the Impact are joining Major League Soccer (or MLS), North America’s premiere league, and their stadium is growing to accomdate almost twice the fans. But there’s no need to wait till next year to feel the impact.
The Montreal Impact (Impact de Montréal) soccer club has been around since 1993, having played in several leagues before settling into their current membership in the North American Soccer League.
In 2008, the Impact moved to Saputo Stadium, which can hold over 13,000 supporters, making it Canada’s second largest soccer stadium.

But there’s no need to wait till next year to feel the impact. Back again is Montreal-born coach Marc Dos Santos, who is, at age 33, one of the youngest coaches in professional soccer and a very well-respected leader. The team’s lineup, however, has changed drastically since last season- striker Ali Gerba is the key to their offense, but keep an eye on the team’s developing new stars, especially midfielder Luke Kreamalmeyer and forward Idriss Ech Chergui, both of whom have looked impressive in the early going.

A

If you want the full, seriously rowdy football experience, look for tickets in the Impact Supporters Section (114). But be prepared: they are considered one of the most vocal groups in the league.

A

When kids are involved, even a trip to the movies can break the bank. But an Impact game is truly one of the best deals in town: you can arrange group rates and tickets start as low as $11 for children (4-16 years old) and $15 for adults. They can go higher if you’re looking for snazzy box seats, though it’ll still be a fraction of what a Habs ticket would run you.
