We’ve got Mutek in the early spring, Piknic Electronik all summer, and <strong>MEG</strong>, a.k.a. <strong>Montreal Electronic Groove</strong>, heating up nine indoor venues, two outdoor stages and one super fun boat (yes!) July 26 to August 5&#8230;<span id="more-6728"></span></p>
<p>Over 70 artists from Montreal, Canada and overseas bring their own brands of electronic music together in interesting, language-spanning harmony during the festival. On the first day of <a href="http://megmontreal.com/index.php/en/festival.html" target="_blank">MEG</a>, July 26, see no fewer than five bands, including <strong>Monogrenade</strong>, <strong>The Balconies</strong> at Sala Rossa, <strong>DJ Noyl</strong> at Divan Orange and <strong>Ko &amp; Josephine</strong> and <strong>The Fadeout</strong> at Quai des Brumes. From there on, every night of the fest is packed with music to get some kind of groove on to, like July 27’s Les Soirées Electro MEG, going down at Le Belmont at 11 p.m. with sounds all the way from France: <strong>BeatauCue</strong>, <strong>Canblaster</strong> and <strong>Sam Tiba</strong>.<br />

The festival doesn’t keep all its music offerings indoors either. Taking advantage of the great July weather, MEG teams up with <a href="http://www.tourisme-montreal.org/blog/what-to-do/park-party-piknic-electronik-turns-10/" target="_blank">Piknic Electronik</a> for a night of music with <strong>Squarepusher</strong>, <strong>Ikonika </strong>and<strong> DJ Kobal</strong> on July 28 and a fabulous, chill, dancey July 29 afternoon with <strong>Jacques Greene</strong>,<strong> Machinedrum</strong>,<strong> Lunice</strong>, <strong>Son Raw</strong>, <strong>Nymra </strong>and <strong>Sofisticated</strong>, all at Parc Jean-Drapeau.<br />
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="460" height="277" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zbNWppuXh4I?version=3&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="460" height="277" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zbNWppuXh4I?version=3&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object><br />
And on August 4, the always-exciting <a href="http://megmontreal.com/index.php/en/festival/evenements-2012/item/170-meg-boat.html" target="_blank">MEG Boat</a> launches a full-on dance party on the St-Laurent River with DJs <strong>Breakbot</strong>, <strong>Jesse Rose</strong>, <strong>Vilify</strong> and<strong> Christine</strong>, mixing up electro-funk, dubstep and more.</p>
<p><iframe width="500" height="281" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/eh9XvODpVN4?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>MEG also teams up with <a href="http://www.nativelynx.qc.ca/festival/en/2012" target="_blank">Festival Présence Autochtone</a> on August 3 for a free concert from <strong>Foulane</strong>,<strong> DJ Mood </strong>and<strong> A Tribe Called Red</strong>, at Place des Festivals at 10 p.m., and works with <a href="http://www.tourisme-montreal.org/blog/which-festivals/music-and-park-life-at-osheaga-2012/" target="_blank">Osheaga</a> on the <a href="http://www.mmoi.ca" target="_blank">MMOI</a> showcase, featuring some of Montreal’s most happening new bands, such as awesome Montreal indie-rockers <strong>Silver Dapple</strong>, <strong>The Jezabels</strong>, <strong>Technical Kidman</strong>, <strong>Capitaine Soldat</strong>, <strong>Kandle</strong>, <strong>Propofol </strong>and more.</p>

And close out the festival on August 5 at Club Soda, with <strong>Brodinski</strong>, <strong>Gesaffelstein </strong>and <strong>Surkin and Claire</strong>. If you&#8217;re still standing.</p>
