  • FREE THINGS TO DO IN MONTREAL: DECEMBER

    Posted by

December can be a pricey month, what with all the gift-buying, celebratory dinners and holiday parties. Yet in Montreal there are still plenty of ways to avoid the cash drain – and not all of them involve being outside, though cross-country skiers and skaters take note: we’ve got what you need too. Art abounds at craft and artisanal fairs, outdoors and indoors, and in the sky during weekly fireworks events, and public spaces around town filled with people, music and dance performances, and even a parade or two… … More

  • THINGS TO DO IN MONTREAL: DECEMBER

    Posted by

With summer’s frenzy of activity behind us, Montrealers are ready for the slow, sweet pace of December – of course, slow is a relative term here, as holiday parties, gift shopping, music, dancing, theatre, art shows and all sorts of merry-making abound throughout the month. It’s a busy time, but with sparkling lights in the streets and plenty of warm places to cozy up, Montreal’s atmosphere is nonetheless relaxed and welcoming… … More

  • BIG BANG AT THE MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS

    Posted by

Art worlds collide in The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts’ Big Bang exhibition, with filmmakers, fashion designers and musicians sharing gallery space with writers, architects and mural/graffiti artists, and more – each inspired by works of art in the museum’s century-spanning permanent collection. The multi-disciplinary, multi-media (and free) Big Bang isn’t your typical museum fare, but perhaps it should be… … More

  • TOYS EXHIBIT KICKS OFF CHRISTMAS AT THE MCCORD MUSEUM

    Posted by

It’s almost that time of year and, as always, toys are at the top of many Christmas lists. TOYS 2, the exhibit at Montreal’s McCord Museum from November 18 to March 11, is a delight for both the young and young-at-heart. I followed the path of tiny cat paws painted on the museum floor and they led me to this charming new show… … More

  • THINGS TO DO IN MONTREAL: OCTOBER 21-28

    Posted by

No doubt about it, it’s fall now – the north winds blow, the leaves fall, the days grow shorter. Which also means Montreal nights are longer, and what better excuse to eat, drink and be merry well into the wee hours. Lovers of live music will adore this week in Montreal, as will lovers of film, as one film festival comes to an end and another begins. Montreal stages brace for drama, comedy, politics and the stomping of hundreds of horses hooves (seriously!). Art, poetry and spoken word round out the busy week with heady, ready made-in-Montreal creative stuff.. … More

If you think insects are just the neatest things scurrying across this wondrous planet of ours, then the Montreal Insectarium is a place you need to visit. The Montréal Buzz posted a photo:	Parlovr at Notman House The Montréal Buzz posted a photo:	There's something magical about a city that lives below a mountain and it's difficult to express why that is...there's something about Mont Royal and how it watches over Montreal as if its duty is to protect the city day and night. It's also so profound how you can be entrenched in cosmopolitan life and minutes later be surrounded by nature...and those clouds; there's no clouds like the ones over Montreal--surreal and oh so beautiful. The window looks directly up Avenue McGill College, to McGill campus and the mountain. I lived in Montreal during my time at the university, but this weekend was the first time my three cousins had been to the beautiful city. We spent the entire weekend walking up and down St. Denis, eating La Banquise's poutine in Parc La Fontaine, and napping in Parc Jeanne-Mance. But that first view of the city after our arrival at the hotel was definitely a moment that left my newbie cousins in awe of Montreal. The Montréal Buzz posted a photo:	This photo I took represents the essence of Montreal. Taking the most beautiful place in Montreal, the Old Port, and using it as a backdrop to Montreal's other beautiful feature: the people!
