Montréal’s dance scene is bubbling with innovation. Over the course of 2017, Tangente, Agora de la danse, the Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal and the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal will move into the new Espace danse in the Wilder Building (1435 Bleury Street) at the Place des Festivals. In the meantime, they’ve been drawing from their deep well of creativity to offer you a truly breathtaking program. Here’s a look at the shows this season. Les Grands Ballets The Grands Ballets 60th marks a turning point in its history. Gradimir Pankov, Artistic Director of the company for the past 18 years, will be handing the reins over to Ivan Cavallari, current Artistic Director of the Ballet de l’Opéra national du Rhin in July 2017. As a farewell gift, Pankov invites audience to relive some of the pivotal moments in the Grands Ballets history as well as the company’s greatest triumphs.
