Coming to Montreal this weekend? Eager to partake in Canadian Thanksgiving?
Here are my restaurant suggestions for the finest of Montreal turkey, potatoes and cranberry sauce.
Thanksgiving in Montreal – celebrated the second weekend in October – is not the major celebration it is in the US, but it is nonetheless an excuse to get together with family and eat, eat, eat. And since it’s generally a home-cooked affair, not all restaurants offer Thanksgiving feasts for tourists. That said, if you’re coming to Montreal this weekend, you can try our traditional Thanksgiving dishes at one of the following restaurants:
• Traditional Thanksgiving at B&M
B&M restaurant has been serving a traditional Thanksgiving meal for years now. Soup, turkey, potatoes, stuffing and cranberry sauce for only $16! Memories of your childhood are guaranteed. Served from Friday October 9 to Monday October 12.
• Classic Thanksgiving at Le Montrealais
The majestic Le Montréalais restaurant inside the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth will be offering a classic turkey meal. Get it with soup and dessert for $35.
• Sophisticated Thanksgiving at Globe
Globe restaurant, located in the trendy part of St-Laurent Boulevard has a fancy Thanksgiving meal planned. Butternut squash cream soup, turkey, sweet potato purée and cranberry sauce are concluded with a wedge of pumpkin pie. Available on Sunday and Monday for $48.
And if you’re wondering just how to work up an appetite for a Thanksgiving meal, I recommend a walk through Montreal’s Jean-Talon Market which is positively brimming with seasonal produce just in from the fall harvest. There’s no better place to indulge and give thanks!
