The day Pretty Ballerinas saved my life

Montreal. September 19, 2009. It was a wedding. Five hours earlier, I had slipped into my dress and heels and I was now strategically moving through the room to avoid as many potential footsteps as possible. If the bride asked me to accompany her to the restroom one more time, I swear, something bad was bound to happen…
I love heels. A nice pair of pumps will make my heart beat faster in any shoe store. But here’s the truth. Once on my feet, I hate them. They make me uncomfortable. On the street, they make me afraid of sidewalk cracks. At the office, they make me detonate from miles away. At the bar, they glue me to my seat when all I want to do is dance… And at this wedding, they had me highly aggravated.
Thankfully, I now have a solution to this very important problem!
That solution is called Pretty Ballerinas, and unlike the ugly flats I hide in my purse, these beauties require no hiding.
These are Pretty Ballerinas! The fine Spanish ballet flats you’ve seen photographed on the Kylies and Kates of this world.
Now guess what? Pretty Ballerinas has opened its first boutique in North America…in Montreal!!!

That’s right, directly on Westmount’s beautiful Victoria Avenue! If it’s your first time visiting the city, Westmount is a posh neighbourhood in Montreal, with some of the city’s best boutiques. Less than 10 minutes by foot from Atwater Metro.

Thanks to its cosmopolitan appeal, Nicholas Martire, North American President of Pretty Ballerinas, has chosen our beautiful city as the first destination outside of Europe where the great Mascaro-manufactured shoes will be sold.
As he says, “Montreal is the perfect meeting between Europe and North America in terms of design culture. It is a city of style and fashion that we knew would be very responsive and understanding of a high quality product like this.”
And responsive we are! Pretty Ballerinas are detailed and artful. They’re hand-made, come in a diversity of colours and shapes, and most of all – this is the part I really like— they are all designed in a limited number of each style so they remain that much more special.
Mostly made out of leather or suede with high quality leather soles, the precious ballerinas are also often decorated with gorgeous details such as Swarovski crystals, and delicate flowers and bows. Check out these PURPLE SNAKE and LEOPARD PRINTS ballerinas. Mine.
The shoes come in European sizes 35 to 42, which translates to sizes 5 to 12 in American shoe lingo. They range from $175 to $375, but most of them generally range around $220.
So, tell me, who needs heels when I have my pretty ballerinas???
