When the Omnivore World Tour left Montreal last year, the festival’s founder Luc Dubanchet promised to be back this summer. A man of his word, the international traveling event that celebrates young chefs and culinary innovation will be back in our fair city, August 14-19…

Once again, the format of this year’s festival consists of the following main events:

Cooking demos: On August 17and 18, the Omnivore cooking demos are back at the SAT’s FoodLab. These were a huge success last year and allowed the attendees to discover some new local and international cutting-edge chefs. This year will not be any different with guest chefs hailing from Montreal as well as Paris, New York and Brussels. The 2013 edition will see the return of a few of last year’s favourite local chefs, including Nouveau Palais’ Gita Seaton, Les 400 Coups’ Patrice Demers and Marc-André Jetté and the FoodLab team of Michelle Marek and Seth Gabrielse.

In addition to the chefs listed above, some of the other local culinary talents that will be present include Charles-Antoine Crête of Toqué!, Marc-Alexandre Mercier of Hôtel Herman and Marc Cohen of Lawrence. If last year’s demos are any indication, these promise to be entertaining, informative and an absolute must-see. August 17 and 18at the SAT’s FoodLab, 1201 St-Laurent Boulevard. Maudits soupers (damn dinners): Omnivore’s Damn Dinners take place from August 14 to August 19. Each guest chef is paired up with a local one and invited to cook at their restaurant. The newly formed teams will combine their talent and creativity to create an unexpected and unforgettable meal. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness some unlikely chef pairings is not to be missed so make sure to reserve early! Reserve your table by calling the individual restaurants. Omnivorious party: Last year’s Omnivorious party was fun, crazy and delicious. This year’s edition will take over the Society of Arts and Technology’s first floor where the young chefs will prepare bites on the spot to the delight of the attending food lovers. The pulsating sounds of the guest DJs are the perfect accompaniment to the closing party of this great gastronomic feast. Saturday August 17, starting at 7pm at the SAT.
