It has been scorching hot in Montreal, so we thought we’d share a nice photo of some snow to help cool you down. There won’t actually be any snow in Montreal this weekend, but there will be clowns!

It’s the first ever Circus Festival in the city. This is your opportunity to find the perfect troupe to run away with. Start working on your acrobatic routine now.

But if the circus doesn’t float your boat, well that’s okay. We’ve got nine other fun suggestions to do this weekend in Montreal!

[circus festival] COMPLÉTMENT CIRQUE – Lead by the world famous Cirque du Soleil and continued with numerous other circus companies and schools, Montreal has positioned itself as the North American destination for circus arts. This festival provides the perfect opportunity to see why we’ve earned that reputation.

[film festival] FANTASIA – Through an emphasis of imaginative film programming from all corners of the world, Fantasia has become the festival choice of the underground movie buff.  Whether you are into Korean horror flicks, Bollywood love stories or anything in between, you’re going to find the best of celluloid creations.

[dirty comedy] THE NASTY SHOW – What happens when you stick a bunch of filthy-mouthed comedians on a stage and encourage them to share their most un-politically-correct material? A whole bunch of f*cking debauchery happens. Not for the faint of heart.

[concert] VANS WARPED TOUR – A massive roster of hard rock heavy hitters will cause Notre Dame Island to possibly fall into the Saint Lawrence River. Headliners include The All-American Rejects, Andrew W.K., Motion City Soundtrack and more. And we don’t want to sound like your mother, but earplugs might not be the worst idea ever.

[gay life] MEC PLUS ULTRA – One of the city’s hottest out-of-village gay parties will rock the Belmont on Boulevard St. Laurent. Expect a hip crowd. Free drink before 11pm. Saturday.

[restaurant] CHEZ L’ÉPICIER – Pop in for a glass of wine and an appetizer as you wander along charming Saint Paul Street. More than just a restaurant, Chez L’Épicer is a food boutique that offers Quebecois specialty products.

[festival] JUST FOR LAUGHS – Although the bulk of the action begins next weekend, there are some preliminary shows starting this weekend. Consult with the website for all your comedy options.

[shopping] MADE WITH LOVE ATELIER – Fashion cares with this event that pairs Montreal designers with the Canadian Mental Health Association. If you are passionate about the life of Alexander McQueen, this one event you don’t want to miss. Saturday.

[museum] WE WANT MILES – If you missed the Montreal Jazz Fest, you can still partake in a little slice of jazz history with this multimedia retrospective of the life and career of the music icon.

[pyrotechnics] FIREWORKS – The top fireworks companies around the globe present 30-minute long shows on each Saturday night to compete for the top prize. The International des Feux, our International Fireworks Festival, attracts the world’s leading designers, big bang technicians and sparkly optic addicts. This weekend is a tribute to Celine Dion! It doesn’t get much more Quebecois than Celine songs and fireworks.
