Here are twitter-esque tips for the best of what to see and do in Montréal this weekend [May 7 – 9, 2010]…

[art/music] FRIDAY NOCTURNE @ THE CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM – This month’s nocturne features Elfin Saddle. Expect great tunes and creative multimedia installations all within the stunning space of the MACM (Montréal Contemporary Art Museum).

[restaurant] MESA 14 – In honor of Cinco del Mayo (and their 6th anniversary), Mesa 14 is celebrating with specials on tequilas, margaritas, cervezas, mexican dishes and much more. You had us at “tequila.”

[international digital arts festival] ELECTRA – The 11th Edition of this futuristic festival will highlight the latest in contemporary music and visual creation.

[testosterone] UFC – If you have violent tendencies, a great way to release them is vicariously. Watch dudes pulverize each other while you eat popcorn. If you sit close enough, you might even get sprayed with sweat/blood.

[classical music] CHAMBER FESTIVAL – One of Canada’s greatest pianists, Anton Kuerti, will perform Schubert’s beloved piece, “The Trout.” Keep it classy.

[party] WE ARE ROBOTS – A night of electronic music accompanied the spicy choreography for four industrial robots. Curious? We are too. We’ll see you there.

[cirque du soleil] TOTEM – Another truly stunning achievement from Montréal’s internationally loved circus. Robert Lepage guides us through the evolution of man, but with clowns, acrobats and awe.

[hockey] CANADIENS PLAYOFFS GAME – This Saturday night our boys will be in Pittsburg, but there is nothing more “Montréal” than installing yourself in a local bar and watching the game. For a rowdy good time, try Champs Sports Bar (3956 Saint Laurent Boulevard).

[holiday] MOTHER’S DAY– If you’re in Montréal this weekend with Mommsie, we recommend brunch at Cartet in Old Montréal, and then a Bixi ride along the Lachine Canal.
