The best way to see most cities is on two wheels. And with Montreal’s intelligent urban planners having created miles and miles of cyclist-only paths, this city is no exception.
Le Ville de Montréal has recently made it even easier for locals and travelers alike to move through Montréal in a pleasant and ecological way.
Enter BIXI…
BIXI, a word created by conjoining ‘bike’ and ‘taxi’, is the city’s new public bike system. The bicycles are accessible to everyone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, three seasons of the year, from May to November. With 300 stations around the city, you can pick up a bike at one end of the city and drop it off at another (the bikes are returnable at any station)!
Finally, on top of the fact that riding a BIXI is à la mode in Montréal, it’s also easy on the “trip budget”. Your first half-hour is always free, leaving you with extra money to buy a drink for the cutie you are bound to find at the bar.
So for your Montréal getaway, grab a set of wheels and get exploring!
