  • CIRQUE ELOIZE MAKES IT RAIN IN MONTREAL

    Posted by

It’s no secret that Montreal loves a good circus. This city is so rich with circus artists and phenomenal contemporary circus performers that it feels like they’re everywhere. But the best of the best can be found in Cirque Éloize’s fifth production Rain, opening on December 6 at Monument National…

Cirque Éloize is an established contemporary circus company that seamlessly blends together theatre, acrobatics and narrative. Daniele Finzi Pasca wrote and directed the world-acclaimed Rain for Cirque Éloize, a production that has seen 191 cities in 22 countries after travelling the world. The show features 12 performers from all over the globe, but what makes this show unique is that the performers are playing characters they created themselves which lends an intimacy to the performance that’s difficult to find in the grandiosity of most other circus productions.

The cutting edge show is centered on a circus troupe preparing for a performance. The mood is antiquated and vaudevillian, the multi-talented actors perform mind-bending aerial stunts and then they sing a song and dance number like they weren’t just whipping around in the air. Rain enchants with love affairs, moments of comedy and nonstop acrobatic gymnastics. The production surpasses expectation and re-imagines what the contemporary circus is capable of. After touring the globe and garnering rave reviews, come see one of the the most vibrant shows this city has to offer.
