  • STEREO NIGHTCLUB REOPENS IN MONTREAL

    Posted by

One of the best nightclubs in the world, Stereo, reopens in Montreal on Labor Day Weekend, Thursday September 3-7. This 5-day party is a Montreal nightlife celebration of dancing that is not to be missed…

Routinely voted as one of the best nightclubs in the world, Stereo was closed after a fire in July, 2008. Since then, the people at Stereo have used the opportunity to enhance the existing space, renovating the décor and upgrading their already legendary sound system. Some very cool new stuff includes a new space for live bands and a new mandate to make Stereo eco-friendly by using re-purified water and recycling methods, so clubbers can, as the press release says, “make their mark on the dance floor, not on the environment.”

    Here’s the rundown for Stereo’s grand re-opening:

Thursday, September 3rd: One of Stereo’s pioneers, Angel Moraes, takes over the turntables and plays a ‘Stereo anthology’ of all the best music from over the years. FYI- There are only 800 exclusive invites available, so head immediately to the Stereo Website and get in the virtual line-up.

Friday, September 4th: If you can believe it, there will be not only an army of “get wild dancers” but also midget cowboys! On deck is Sharam (Deep Dish) featuring renowned singer Anousheh Khalil, as well as Sultan and Ned Shepard making the most of the venue’s new live music set-up.

Saturday, September 5th: The introduction of “Saturdays at Stereo” which will be going on every Saturday night in Montreal. The headliners will not be advertised, so just show up expecting to see some of the best DJs in the world.

Sunday, September 6th: Sunday announces the return of a big-time DJ and Producer to Stereo, Roger Sanchez. He’ll be playing a marathon set that will go all the way into Monday, right up until the event which Stereo is co-producing with Neon. Located down on the waterfront of Montreal’s Old Port, the Monday DJ lineup includesinclude Tiga, Adam Beyer, Clive Henry, Audiofly, Martin Buttrich Live and Jordan Dare. Check the website to find out where exactly it all goes down.

The window looks directly up Avenue McGill College, to McGill campus and the mountain. I lived in Montreal during my time at the university, but this weekend was the first time my three cousins had been to the beautiful city. We spent the entire weekend walking up and down St. Denis, eating La Banquise's poutine in Parc La Fontaine, and napping in Parc Jeanne-Mance. But that first view of the city after our arrival at the hotel was definitely a moment that left my newbie cousins in awe of Montreal.
