  • 10 FAMOUS MUSICIANS CHAT ABOUT MONTREAL

    Posted by

It was a fun year for The Montreal Buzz as we chased down our favorite rockstars for their sentiments on the city. Whether in town as part of one of the many stellar festivals or touring for new album releases, most artists made time to do a bit of exploring around Montreal and had some great things to say.

In random order, here are our ten most memorable musician moments.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

    SARAH HARMER

Canada’s Songstress has filmed a couple of her music videos in Montreal. This year she played two shows in Montreal, including one at the Osheaga Festival in July.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

    CHARLIE WINSTON

Also at the Osheaga Festival was that classy British chap, Mr. Charlie Winston. We caught up with him on a grassy knoll just in Parc Jean-Drapeau.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

    BARENAKED LADIES

The guys from Barenaked Ladies are good sports. We convinced them to do a gay interview. That’s right, they had to answer gay questions about Montreal. Definitely one of our most fun moments of the year!

    ——————————————————————————————————————

    YOAV

Yoav is one of those human beings who are disgustingly talented, yet totally humble. Before he hit the stage for his Summer show at Club Soda, we chatted with him about his connection to Montreal.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

    SCISSOR SISTERS

The Scissor Sisters are fun-loving folks. Considering their appreciation for debauchery, Montreal is a perfect place to throw a killer concert. We chatted with them about their new album… and Montreal!

    ——————————————————————————————————————

    MARTHA WAINWRIGHT

We were supposed to interview Martha at a restaurant. But when we arrived, the noise from lunch hour wouldn’t have made an ideal setting for a chat. So we took it outside… where we get to see the lush, tree-lined streets of the Plateau. As well as hearing Martha chat about her hometown. We love this interview.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

    SNOOP DOGG

Getting to Snoop Dogg is NOT an easy task. But our Ambassador, Tamy Emma Pepin, is famous for her abilities to get what she wants. And she wanted an interview with Snoop Dogg.

We love that she made it happen.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

    DAVID USHER

Another hometown hero. With a career that has nearly spanned two decades, David Usher has become Canadian music royalty. He caught up with him shortly after his recent acoustic album release.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

    FLAMING LIPS

Not only did we nab an interview with Wayne Coyne, but we also got on stage!

    ——————————————————————————————————————

    JOEY ARIAS & SHERRY VINE

An interview with a drag queen is guaranteed good times. Joey Arias and Sherry Vine keep it fun (and dirty) backstage at Montreal’s premiere drag venue, Cabaret Mado.
