  • MONTREAL MUSEUMS MATCHED TO YOUR PERSONALITY TYPE

    Posted by

After the success of last summer’s wildly successul, Montreal festivals matched to your personality type, we’ve decided once again to incorporate our otherwise useless psychology degrees to help you find a Montreal experience that’s just right.

Montreal has over fifty museums and galleries, each one specializing in a specific domain of creativity or human achievement or environmental phenomena.

Here are ten of our favorites. But which one is right for you?

    ——————————————————————————————————————

[the documentist] McCORD MUSEUM OF CANADIAN HISTORY – If you salivate over dusty books and historical facts, you’re going to be in a form of nerd nirvana at this important center that has records of the Canadian narrative. Plus it’s on the grounds of McGill University, which is one of Canada’s oldest and more stunning campuses.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

[the star gazer] PLANETARIUM DE MONTREAL – If you’re the type of person who enjoys the wonderment of staring into space and really trying to wrap your head around how petit we all are, then this place of galactic learning will remind you of the greater picture. Wishing upon a star is encouraged.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

[the builder] CANADIAN CENTRE FOR ARCHITECTURE – One of Montreal’s most well-designed spaces awaits those who are inspired by how we literally construct our largest creative accomplishments. It’s also the perfect place to get an understanding of the unique architectural gems that exist in Montreal.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

[the art aficionado] THE MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS – With constantly revolving installations, you’ll be able to see a different art museum each season you come to Montreal. Throw in a stellar permanent collection, complete with many Quebecois works, and you’ve got a “must see” experience for any art aficionado.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

[the hockey guru] MONTREAL CANADIENS HALL OF FAME – If you like your beer icy and your sports icy-er, then this collection of “Habs” memorabilia will tickle your fancy, even if you thought your fancy was lost long ago.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

[the memoirist] MONTREAL HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL CENTRE – By ensuring the stories of Holocaust survivors are accessible to all, this museum helps folks wrap their heads around the atrocities of World War II. There’s a chance that your guide might have been a survivor.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

[the anthropologist] POINTE-À-CALLIÈRE, MONTREAL MUSEUM OF ARCHAEOLOGY AND HISTORY – With a new video installation that tells the history of Montreal in 18 minutes, even those with the shortest attention spans will succumb to a history lesson. As you experience the exposed ruins of early European settlers, you’ll probably feel like Indiana Jones.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

[the romantic] CHÂTEAU DUFRESNE MUSEUM – Built between 1915 and 1918, Chateau Dufresne is a beaux arts-style private mansion which was owned by the Dufresne brothers, two important members of the Montréal’ French Bourgeoisie. Today, it houses the Château Dufresne museum, dedicated to Montréal’s East side history. Rent the space for the ULTIMATE romantic wedding.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

[the modster] MUSÉE D’ART CONTEMPORAIN DE MONTREAL – If you are an art snob, and you’re proud of it, then this is your place. If you’re not an art snob, don’t be frightened, as the museum offers some great tours that help make contemporary art more accessible. Check out the first Friday of each month where a featured band plays in the basement. Very cool.

    ——————————————————————————————————————

[the environmentalist] BIOSPHERE, ENVIRONMENT MUSEUM – If you like the fact that air and water exist, then why not go and learn a little more about these vital earth elements. Located in one of the coolest architectural gems in Montreal.
