Case study: How Bernard & Fils transformed a special event into a work of art

For their blend of creativity, collaboration and cuisine, special event caterers Bernard & Fils earned 2017 Synergy Award at this year’s Ulysse Awards, an annual celebration of the tourism industry’s most innovative movers and shakers. What pushed them to the top of the list this year, you ask? The Synergy Award commemorates an event demonstrating unique collaboration, and the catering provided by Bernard & Fils as part of the 44th annual meeting of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works was a marvel of cross-pollination and installation.

Combining a visit to the Musée des beaux-arts (during its wildly successful Pompeii exhibition) with a cornucopia of tastes blending Italian and Montréalais influences, Bernard & Fils created a food experience across the museum’s four floors uniquely created for the conference’s 1500 attendees. It made for an unforgettable event perfectly befitting both the artifacts on show and of Montréal itself. Proving lightning can strike twice, Bernard & Fils presented similar experiences for conference attendees at three of Montréal’s other grand locales: the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the National Archives, and Château Ramezay. Food sustainability is key

Many Montréal events businesses excel in sustainability, and several organizations including the Conseil québécois des événements écoresponsables will keep you up to date on who’s doing their best. Biodegradable packaging, ecological cleaning products, all-natural oven plate cleaning processes and energy-efficient stoves are all available via local suppliers, leaving the only true post-event impact on the happy palettes of attendees. And it doesn’t stop there: surplus foods can be donated to those in need via La Tablée des Chefs.
