Montréal is a gourmand’s paradise, the streets and neighbourhoods lined with world-class restaurants, bars and cafés. But don’t just take our word for it: Montréal’s made the Délice Network’s list of the best food cities in the world, alongside Barcelona, Bordeaux, Torino and Hong Kong. And just saying: Montréal’s the only Canadian city on the list and only the fourth in North America alongside Chicago and Mérida and Puebla in Mexico.

And so, it’s easy to see Montréal as the perfect host city for the ASI & APAS Contest of the Best Sommelier of the Americas, held May 21-24, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Montréal. Over 150 international attendees will gather to test the skills of the Western Hemisphere’s best sommeliers.

A who’s who in the world’s wine scene

The contest serves as an exciting lead-up to the World Contest held in Belgium in 2019, completing the search for the best sommelier on the planet. Competitors will go head-to-head testing their knowledge and abilities, pouring some of the world’s best wines. We’re keeping a close eye on local Carl Villeneuve-Lepage, the sommelier at Montréal’s Toque! Restaurant and current title-holder of Canada’s Best Sommelier.
